How to do Affirmations for Success
Affirmations are a powerful method taught in the self help community with the purpose to reprogram your subconscious mind. By saying positive statements over and over, you train your subconscious in the direction you want it to go, creating new belief systems which help you quit bad habits and reach your goals.
A quick example is “I embrace new opportunities.” If you find yourself in a rut and too afraid of taking risks (like most people), saying this repeatedly will influence your subconscious mind and your behavior will change as a result.
Note that the example is stated in the first-person, positive present tense. Saying “I am” helps to internalize the belief that the change has already occurred. If you listen to affirmations on a recording, third-person is fine, but the statements should always be positive because your subconscious thinks in terms of absolutes. Avoid negative phrases like “I don’t waste time,” because your mind will think “I waste time.”
Our subconscious minds are extremely intuitive, intelligent and influential on our daily behavior, more so than anyone probably realizes. So naturally, reprogramming the subconscious with affirmations is an excellent way to change your attitude and habits and make you better at getting what you want out of life.
